These people amaze me. I can only hope I can be as healthy and fit as them at 50, maybe even now
Kathy Martin – one of America’s best over-50 runners – sat slumped in a chair as her husband, Chuck Gross, and friend Joe Cordero tried to massage a painful cramp out of her left leg.
At age 54, Martin, who lives in Northport, has run times fast enough to leave many 18-year- olds panting and red-faced. She holds numerous national age-group records for various distances, from 800 meters to 10K (6.2 miles). She was named masters (40 and over) athlete of the year in 2004 by USA Track & Field. She was even the star of a slightly risqué TV commercial for Nike, which focused on Martin’s very non-54-year-old-looking posterior as evidence of her superior physical fitness.

I’ll be 50 in less than a year. My PRs are getting faster with age/maturity, so I guess there’s hope for me.
Happy Trails,
Bad Ben
