Ultramarathon runner’s mental state must outperform his feet

March 30th, 2006 by Scott · 2 Comments

Good little article on the Arizona Republic website:

How do you train for such a thing? You push your body, and, when the time comes, your mind does the rest.

“The mind is 80 percent of it,” said ultra runner Don Meyer, who lives in Phoenix. “It’s definitely the mind. If you think you can’t do something, you won’t be able to.”

I kind of like the term “cult-like group” they used for us in the article. It makes me want to shave my head and wear bright orange.

It’s totally true though, there is definitely a sub-culture in the ultra world. I already shaved my head just need the bright orange :)
