Michael Simpson King of the Grouse Grind

ggmr_l.jpgIn my opinion the Grouse Mountain Run is one of the hardest races around. My poor fitness shattered me in my attempt at hanging with the elites. Not the same for Michael Simpson…

From the Province: The 22-year-old runner defended his title in the 16th-annual BMO Grouse Grind Mountain run yesterday against a field of about 600 competitors.

Simpson completed the 2.9-kilometre climb and its elevation gain of 853 metres in 27 minutes and one second.

He was just off his own Grind record of 26:26 set last year. Second place went to Morgan Titus, who finished in 27:57. Joren Titus was third in 28:05.
