Climbathon “Worlds Toughest Mountain Race”

I can say I have never heard of this race, but it does sound frikin tough!

logo_kinabalu.gifKOTA KINABALU, Sept 27 (Bernama) — A total of 327 international and local mountain racers have so far confirmed their participation in this year’s TM 20th Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon, the biggest number since the event was introduced in 1987.

The climbathon, dubbed the “World’s Toughest Mountain Race”, once again will become the deciding race for the Buff Skyrunner World Series organised by the World Federation of Sports at Altitude (FSA) and the champions will be crowned right here in Sabah.

Sri Pelancongan Sabah, the organiser of the climbathon, said in a statement, here Wednesday that the race involved running up and down Mt Kinabalu (4,095.2m) with total distance of 21km for the Men’s, Women’s and Men’s Veteran categories.
