Snowshoeing

October 11th, 2006 · No Comments

The snow will be flying up on the North Shore mountains soon. So that means snowshoeing for some trail runners. I have never done any snowshoeing/snowrunning but this winter I am planning on doing a lot of it, for two reasons less impact on the body (I am comming off a serious stress fracture) and secondly it is suppossibly a great strength builder which will be beneficial to my trail/mountain running. We are also fortunate to have a race series up here called the Yeti Snowshoe Series which I would like to compete in.
My only problem is now deciding on what snowshoes?  Seems like there are alot of options. MEC carries two models in the “running” category called the Atlas Snow Run and the GV Cat Trail. Does anyone have any recommends? I am a total newbie, I guess I would like something I could train and race in.
