Kenyan and Ethiopian win Obudu Ranch Mountain Race

November 26th, 2006 by Scott · 2 Comments

Looks like Africans can dominate the track, road and mountains. They answered all those who questioned their mountain running potential.  The Obudu Ranch Mountain Race was won by Kenyan Francis Kibiwott, running in his first mountain race, and Kedir Rehima of Ethiopia. Jonathan Wyatt the 2006  World Mountain Running Grand Prix winner placed 5th. See the IAAF site for a full race report.

African´ mountain running potential is huge which still is to to reemerge. Participating in such a great event is more important for the runners than the trophy, I think.
Congratulations to the first and second winners and to all participants and to the organizing group too.

So true. It is going to be great for the sport if the Africans start competing in more of these races. I was still suprised that Wyatt did not win though.
