This years uphill/downhill WMRA World Mountain Running Trophy in Ovronnaz, Switzerland was won by previous champion Marco De Gasperi (ITA) (his fifth World title) holding off the strong challenge of an African duo from Eritrea at the WMRA World Mountain Running Trophy.
De Gasperi who excels in the up/down version of the World Trophy had a comfortable margin of victory on the three lap course of 12km and 933m of ascent/descent.
Anna Pichrtova (CZE), also a downhill specialist, lifted the women’s World title at last after several attempts. 2006 champion, Andrea Mayr (AUT) gave a hard fight until the final lap when Pichrtrova pulled away.
The Italians beat Eritrea in the means team race.
The womens team race was one by the Americans for the second year in a row.
