Toughest Hill Climb in North America the Grouse Grind Mountain Run is on this Sunday

Grouse Mountain RunGrouse Mountain is hosting the 17th Annual Bank of Montreal Grouse Grind Mountain Run this Sunday. This is one of my favorite trail events in BC it always seems to be nice on race day, there are great prizes, the level of competition is extremely high and you finish on top of Grouse which has some of the best views in the Greater Vancouver Area. It is also probably the most painful race you will ever participate in, seriously if you really race it nothing can compare, you will taste blood, your teeth will hurt and you will feel like fainting and vomiting at the finish! Fun, Fun, joy, joy we are trail runners who are always looking to increase our pain thresholds and this is a great venue for that. For those who have never run the Grind here are some stats:

This Grind is a rigorous technical 2.9 km (1.8 mile) hike that takes you straight up the face of Grouse Mountain. By the time you reach the plateau, your ascent will have gained 853 metres (2,800 feet) - one and a half times the height of Toronto’s CN Tower!

Some highlights of the Grouse Mountain Run:

- A 10:00 AM Start!
- A BBQ , DJ, and Sponsor Exhibits in the Plaza for you to enjoy post-race
- A Corporate Division (among many others)
- A cash purse that goes 15 places deep in the Open Elite category ($1000 for first male and female)
- Raising funds and awareness for the BC Lung Association
- The opportunity to be a part of Canada’s biggest (and possibly most painful) trail event

Americans this is one race worth crossing the border for.
