Dean Karnazes the Ultra Marathon Man has just done a podcast interview on The Final Sprint. He responds to the critical comments made by Scott Jurek in a recent Endurance Planet interview. Some of Jurek’s comments include “I’m not winning races and performing, I shouldn’t be gracing the cover of magazines, getting a title, or even being okay with accepting a title such as Outside Magazine’s America’s Best Distance Runner. I would feel ashamed to have that title.”
This is kind of reminds me of Tupac vs. Biggy or maybe Christina Aguilera vs. Britney Spears battles of the pop star world. I do agree with Karnazes though he does bring attention to the sport which is a good thing.

Dean Karnazes is the poster boy ultrarunner. Scott Jurek cannot maintain his style of marketing himself and expect to trump Dean.
This is not an ultrarunning issue - it’s a common circumstance at ANY level of entertainment.
The one with the most charisma wins.
Cheers!
Christian.

I totally agree, Karnazes has got charisma. My mom even lives the guy and she knows nothing about running…
