Last Christmas I got the Garmin 305 which I love but it is on the bulky side. Looks like Garmin has taken a pretty big leap forward with the 405.

I can’t justify buying the 405 just on looks can I… From Garmin:
Recreational joggers and elite runners alike will be amazed at the training tools available to them in a watch that could easily be worn all day,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. “Runners no longer have to choose between fashion and function.”
I think I will be hawking my 305 on eBay.

I looked at it yesterday and nearly kicked myself for getting the 305 in December. Then I did a compare on the Garmin site and realised that the two functions that I use quite a lot (time/distance alerts and pace alerts) isn’t in the 405. The battery life in training mode is a tad short for me too when I’m away from home. I think that although the 405 is very pretty, I’ll stick with the 305 for now.

Yeah battery life is an issue with these I find that to be a major downfall in the 305 and 405. I can’t use them on long day hikes /races.
